A client who doesn't turn up is an hour of work you can't get back. It's hardly ever bad faith: they forgot. A timely reminder fixes that, and it also gives you time to fill the slot if they cancel.
Three channels, the same notice
- WhatsApp: the client gets a message before their appointment, with buttons to confirm or cancel.
- E-mail: an e-mail with the appointment details, with the same notice.
- Phone notification: for those who booked online with their account and turned on alerts in their dashboard.
It's all chosen in Settings › Online booking, along with how many hours or days ahead the reminder goes out.
An instant reply
With “Reply instantly” turned on, when the client taps “Confirm” or “Cancel” they get a reply straight away: appointment confirmed, appointment cancelled, or that the deadline to cancel online has passed and they need to call the salon. The calendar updates itself.
You set the cancellation deadline
In the booking terms you decide up to how many hours before people can cancel online. After that deadline, the button stops cancelling and asks them to call: that way you aren't left with a slot that's impossible to fill at the last minute.
For long services (colour, brides) a reminder the day before works better than a couple of hours before: it gives you time to offer the slot to someone else.
